Big moment for McKenzie
McKenzie River Community School has officially been recognized as a HEARTSafe School, becoming just the fourth school in Oregon to earn this distinction.
This recognition reflects months of meaningful work to strengthen cardiac emergency preparedness on campus. From creating a comprehensive Cardiac Emergency Response Plan to training staff in CPR and AED use, this effort ensures our team is ready to act when every second matters.
This is not just a certification. It is deeply personal. After experiencing a cardiac emergency on campus last year, our staff took action. Because of that preparation, a life was saved. That moment helped drive this work forward and shape the systems now in place.
Huge credit to Liz for leading this from start to finish and to our CERT team for their commitment through intensive training and drills. Your dedication has made our school safer for every student, staff member, and visitor.
This is something truly worth celebrating.
