Visual Comparing Supplemental Education and Distance Learning

McKenzie Students and Families,

Supplemental Education begins today Monday, April 6th as we build to Distance Learning for All on Monday, April 13th.

Supplemental Education Begins Today! Monday, April 6th

What is Supplemental Education?

  • Connecting with Teachers and Classmates online, phone or packet

  • Non-graded content review to help students and parents get back into school routines and acquainted with the new learning environment.

What should we be doing this week?

  • Connect with your child’s teacher if you haven’t heard from them already. Look up staff emails here: bit.ly/mkzstaff

  • Be patient as everyone experiments with online class meetings and office hours this week. This includes your student(s), other students and families as well as your teacher(s).

  • Chromebooks, get them from the school if your student needs one and you haven’t already done so. The next distribution at the school will be Tuesday, April 7th, 10:30 am-4:00 pm.

  • Ensure the school has your current contact information. If you’ve changed your phone, email or have moved recently, call your student’s office and leave a message. Office staff are regularly checking voicemail.

  • Download the school app. Find both Android and Apple versions at the bottom of the School webpage www.mckenziesd.org

  • Visit bit.ly/mkzdistancelearning for information, how to’s and resources to support your student in Supplemental Education and Distance Learning.

  • Let the school know of any internet connection issues so we can work to support your student. Visit COVID-19 Internet Offer For Students for Charter Spectrum service. There is a wait for installation and we are working with community partners to identify WiFi access points up and downriver.

Distance Learning for All Begins Next Monday, April 13th

What is Distance Learning for All?

  • Continuing to connect with teachers and classmates online or by phone.

  • Learning new content online, by phone or packets for grades and credit.

What should we be doing during Distance Learning for All?

  • Help your student connect with their teachers and classmates

  • Support learning and learning routines at home

  • Communicate and partner with your student’s teacher(s) regularly

  • Check bit.ly/mkzdistancelearning regularly for updated info to support your student in Distance Learning

  • Watch for further updates from the school via our website, app, text, phone call and social media

Thank you for partnering with us to continue your students learning during this closure!
